Haflong, September 12, 2014: The Hills State Democratic Party-sponsored 10-hour Dima Hasao bandh from 5 am on Thursday passed off peacefully though it affected normal life at Haflong, Mahur, Maibang, etc., areas of the district.

The HSDP called the bandh demanding immediate release of Mohet Hojai, former Chief Executive Member of the NC Hills Autonomous Council.

Talking to this correspondent, HSDP secretary Lal Mousan Singson said, “Mohet Hojai had served the people of Dima Hasao district in the capacity of the CEM till his arrest on May 30, 2009. His arrest and long detention without giving him any opportunity to get bail has shocked all sections of people.”
