Delhi Dynamos FC will host the league’s second game when they play FC Pune City on October 13. The game in the Capital is expected to draw lot of interest as Italian World Cup winner and Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero is a part of the Delhi set-up.<br />

The action will move to Guwahati on October 15 for the home match of NorthEast United FC against Kerala Blasters FC and then to Goa next day for the hosts’ game against Club Chennai.<br />

Mumbai will see the first ISL action on October 17 when Mumbai City FC take on FC Pune City at DY Patil Stadium. Club Chennai, which has generated lots of interest because of its reported link-up with former Brazilian star Ronaldinho, will host their opening game on October 19. FC Pune City and Kerala Blasters FC will host their first matches on October 22 and 27, respectively. The semi-finals will start from December 13 with the top four clubs qualifying for the knock-out stage to be played in a two-legged format with the winners moving onto the final.<br />

While most of the denizens are blaming the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) for this situation, many are disgusted with the town itself. “Everything is going haywire here, right from the heat to electricity, the potholed roads and water now. The situation is going from bad to worse,” echoed a section of the people in New Silchar.<br />
<br />
The outburst of anger among the people against the incessant and long hours of load-shedding took a violent turn on Tuesday as people gheraoed the APDCL office in New Silchar area and disrupted the activities.<br />
<br />
Asked what could be the reason for this severe power crunch, Binay Nandi, Deputy General Manager, APDCL, Cachar said that production at the Palatana power station is shut down. Nandi said that the Palatana management has kept the plant off on account of maintenance ahead of the festive season.<br />
<br />
“Production at the Palatana base is totally shut down since last seven days which is why there is shortage of power here,” Nandi said, adding that the scenario is likely to improve in the next few days as the Palatana authorities have assured of resuming power supply from September 5.<br />
<br />
Speaking about the requirements, Nandi said that against a peak hour requirement of 65 MW, only 38 MW is available for now. “Like every year, we are trying our best for giving better power supply during the festive season,” the DGM assured.<br />

Initiating the discussion, Samudra Gupta Kashyap, Assistant Editor, Indian Express, recounted his childhood experiences of living in a village located close to the Naga Hills. He remembered how the Nagas came down into the plains to sell their products, particularly broom, limestone and cinnamon. Due to the frequent visits of the Nagas and their lasting relationships with the Assamese villages, many places were named with the prefix ‘Naga’ like ‘Nagamati’.<br />
<br />
He deplored the fact that in spite of having a close relationship between the communities across the borders for ages, there grew mistrust and suspicion due to the insensitive handling of the border issue by the respective governments of both the States. He was also very critical of the role of the media that has sensationalised the border row. He pointed out that most of the Guwahati-based media houses do not have permanent correspondents in other States of the Northeast resulting in the non-representation of the their side of the story.<br />
<br />
Gleaning from his myriad of experiences in working in the Assam-Nagaland border areas in different capacities, Haresh Chandra Dutta, Director, Assam Science Technology and Environment Council (ASTEC) emphasised upon understanding the ethnographic reality of the people living along the borders. He also gave a clear cartographic representation of the Assam-Nagaland border areas through different satellite images and the demographic realities along the borders.<br />
<br />
Giving a portrait of the conflict along the borders, Devojit Phukan, Assistant Professor of Debraj Roy College, Golaghat, on the other hand, recounted the historical trajectory of the dispute. According to him, the vagueness on the part of the Government of India on the issue of boundary demarcation since the creation of the separate State of Nagaland in 1963, the border dispute has sustained with violent manifestations.<br />
<br />
Taking note of the recent violence in some of the border villages, he drew attention to the fact that the incident was triggered off by a very trivial incident of a negligible incident of scuffle between two individuals. He pointed out two major factors contributing to the exacerbation of the situation, namely the abdication of responsibilities on the part of the administration and instigative role played by the electronic media.<br />
<br />
Sushanta Talukdar, Senior Assistant Editor of The Hindu, on the other hand, made a comparison of the accounts of the violence as represented in media of both the States. He showed it quite concisely how the claims made by the media of the respective States gave only a partial picture of the situation blurring the truth completely. Finally, he stressed upon the need of a proactive role on the part the Government of India in resolving the longstanding issue of boundary demarcation. Other participants also took part in the deliberation and pointed out some other facets of the conflict.<br />
<br />
The Dialogue was moderated by Prof Bhupen Sarmah, Director of the institute. In his concluding remarks, he emphasised on the need of an objective analysis of the dispute and to create an informed public debate on the issue.<br />

Miguel Garcia is a Youth Academy product of Sporting Clube De Portugal which is a Premier Club in Portugal. The Portuguese sensation has also played in The UEFA Cup and appeared in the finals for Sporting Lisbon in 2005 with a final appearance in 2011 for Sporting Club de Braga.<br />

The club has also signed Zambian international Kondwani Mtonga to bolster the squad for the first season of the Indian Super League. The 30 year old is a versatile player as he can play either as a centre back or as a defensive midfielder and has played for Zamtel Ndola in 2007.<br />

Another big signing made by North East United FC is with Alexandros Tzorvas who is known to be one of the most well known goalkeepers worldwide. He started playing football in the Panathinaikos Football Academy and went on to play for various football clubs in Greece from 2001 to 2011 and then played for Italian Clubs, Palermo and Genoa in 2011-12 season and 2012-13 season respectively, informed NE Utd media manager Janice Lynrah in a release.<br />

The drugs were smuggled to Mizoram from neighbouring Cachar district. Abdul Hussein (39) of Pangzawl village and Hizbul Rahman (26) of Baghabazar, Cachar district, Assam were arrested last evening and sent to the district jail in Lunglei, the sources said.<br />
<br />
Spasmo Proxyvon is a prominent painkiller widely abused by youngsters in the State and at least 1,145 people have died due to abuse of spasmo proxyvon and parvon spas since 1984, according to the department record.<br />

Released under the record label giant Universal, the album features 14 songs with a very hard rock/classic heavy metal feel for most songs, along with a contrasting ballad and acoustics for the remaining. GNTC’s first official music video for the song ‘Angel’ is regularly being aired on VH1 since July 29 last.<br />
