Itanagar, August 30, 2014: The picturesque Mechukha valley in West Siang District has been completely cut-off from the rest of the world as large portions of Mechukha-Aalo road, the only link that connects this landlocked tourist hotspot with the rest of the country, was washed away in several locations due to incessant monsoon rains.
The magnitude of damages is so extensive that the restoration work even at war footing will take at least two to three week time, Local MLA Passang Dorjee Sona informed on Saturday.
Reportedly, passenger as well as heavy vehicles like trucks that carry essential supplies to Mechukha and its nearby areas are all stranded in various locations along the Mechukha-Aalo road.
