Rangpo, August 26, 2014: It is been barely two days when a dead Himalayan Python was spotted on bank of river Teesta in Bardang East Sikkim on 24 August. The locals informed the Wild Life Department about the sighting and the corpse was taken by the authority. Its come to the knowledge that said dead python belonged to schedule species of protected Wildlife under Wild Life Act 1972.
A strange thing now surfaces in video that inspite undergoing a preliminary investigation through post-mortem to find the cause of death as per the norms before disposing dead corpse was skinned by some group of people in a jungle. The astonishing video reveals a shocking insight of how authority let such practice of cannibalism of dead wild animal overlooking proper procedure as per the act.
