A delegation of ABSU, PJACBM, BPPF, and UDPF called on Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today and reiterated their demand for resumption of the tripartite talks and expediting the talks with the NDFB(P). The delegation preferred the tripartite route rather than the committee, suggesting that the GK Pillai panel be dissolved. On September 18, the delegation had met Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju.
ABSU president Pramod Bodo said the delegation underlined the need for resolving the long-pending issues permanently, for which a time-bound action must be taken by the authorities concerned.
The three-point charter of demands included resumption of tripartite talks with the ABSU, UDPF, PJACBM and BPPF on the Bodoland issue, expediting the process of talks with the NDFB(P) and dissolution of the one-man committee headed by GK Pillai to examine the Bodo problems.
“The ABSU and the Joint Movement Group want an amicable solution to the Bodoland issue through the talks process. As we believe in democracy, the government that rules or the party that is voted to power must come forward to resolve the issues as their responsibility rather than delaying the issues for long periods of time,” he said.
