Guwahati, October 15, 2014: The Southwest Monsoon is yet to withdraw from the NE region. The normal withdrawal date of Monsoon from the NE part of the country is October 15.

However, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), conditions are becoming favourable for further withdrawal of southwest monsoon from some more parts of Central and East India during the next three to four days. Last year, monsoon withdrew from the region on October 21.

Today the withdrawal line of southwest monsoon continues to pass through Latitude 27 degree North and Longitude 87 degree East - Forbesganj, Gaya, Rewa, Hoshangabad, Ahmadnagar, Satara, Vengurla and Latitude 16 degree North and Longitude 70 degree East and Latitude 16 degree North and Longitude 60 degree East, said the IMD in its mid-day weather bulletin today.

The bulletin warned of heavy rainfall activities at isolated places over Assam and Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on October 15 and during the subsequent four days from October 18 to October 22, it said rain or thundershower would occur at a few places over East and North East India.

The Borjhar-based Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) here warned in its weather bulletin today that heavy rain would occur at isolated places over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on October 15 and 16.
