Guwahati, October 12, 2014: Cyclone Hudhud, which is wreaking havoc at many places located in the eastern coastal part and eastern region of the country, may have no direct impact on the weather of the north-eastern region of the country.?
However, it may have an indirect impact on the weather of the region during the next 48 hours from this morning.
Regional Meteorology Centre (RMC) meteorologist Sunit Das told this newspaper this afternoon that Hudhud may indirectly impact the weather of the NE region mainly with clouding of the sky over it and light to moderate rains over the Assam-Meghalaya and Nagaland-Manipur-Mizoram-Tripura Meteorological Sub-divisions during the next 48 hours.
Under the indirect impact of the cyclone, rains at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh Meteorological Sub-division and at a few places over the Assam-Meghalaya Meteorological Sub-division may occur during the next 24 hours.
During that period, heavy rains may occur at many places over the Nagaland-Manipur-Mizoram-Tripura Meteorological Sub-division and isolated heavy rains may occur at Assam-Meghalaya and Nagaland-Manipur-Mizoram-Tripura Sub-divisions, Das said.
The RMC, Guwahati in its today weather bulletin said “Isolated heavy rain may occur over Assam and Meghalaya during next 72 hrs and over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during next 24 hrs.” However, it has not mentioned anything about the impact of Hudhud on the weather condition of the region.
