Itanagar, September 6, 2014: The Itanagar police has, so far, arrested three persons in connection with the abduction and killing of Naharlagun-based trader KP Chako, whose decomposed body was found at Chiputa, about 8 km off Doimukh yesterday, eight days after he was kidnapped by unidentified miscreants from his rented house at Naharlagun on August 28.

This was confirmed by State DGP S Nithianandam. He, however, declined to disclose the names of the three arrested persons for the sake of investigation.

The DGP, meanwhile, informed that after completion of the post-mortem, the coffin carrying the mortal remains of the trader and escorted by family members, has been flown to Kochi airport in Kerala via Guwahati.

The arrangements were made for airlifting of the body as requested by Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy to his Arunachal Pradesh counterpart Nabam Tuki on Friday. Chandy had reportedly rung up Tuki after the news of recovery of Chako’s body was flashed.

Tuki had expressed deep regret over the barbaric killing and conveyed the condolences of the government and the people of the State to Chandy.

Meanwhile, State Governor Lt Gen Nirbhay Sharma (Retd) has expressed deep shock and grief at the murder of K P Chako. He vehemently condemned the appalling criminal act leading to the trader’s death. He conveyed his heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.

The Governor further said that every Arunachali vehemently condemns the ghastly act of some unwanted elements of the society, who need to be brought to book.
