Imphal, September 6, 2014: Amid UNC’s blanket ban on execution of all National projects and vehicular movement on all National and State highways in Naga areas of Manipur, around 330 trucks escorted by IRB personnel today left Imphal for Jiribam this morning to ship in essential commodities into the State.
The convoy included four LPG bullet tankers, oil tankers and rice transporters.
Notably, the UNC announced the blanket ban after two civilians were killed in police firing during a public rally at Ukhrul town on August 30.
The public rally was organised in protest against deployment of additional State forces and promulgation of CrPC 144 at Ukhrul town in the aftermath of the assassination of Ukhrul ADC Member Ngalangzar Malue at Finch Corner on July 12.
