Imphal, September 4, 2014: All Manipur Government Aided College Teachers' Association (AMGACTA), while expressing appreciation for the State Government's decision to regularise Government college and Higher secondary Schools' part time teachers, has conveyed its grief on the omission of Aided College teachers in the decision.

Established in the year 1987, the Government aided College has received no intervention from the Government till date. A press statement issued by AMGACTA secretary, stated that Aided College in Manipur undergoes the worst treatment as compared to other Aided Colleges in India. In such a case, the press statement added, the Government's invitation to this year's Teacher's Day celebration could be derived as a direct insult to the teachers.

Government Aided Colleges in other parts of India has been given Government recognition under RUSA. However, in Manipur, despite orders from the centre to regularise Aided colleges, no such steps has been taken.

The press release further stated that the organisation would, hereupon, communicate the matter directly to RUSA authority, HRD. demanding timely intervention from the Government on the matter, the association further warned agitations in case the Government fails to secure their demands. The organisation, it added, is prepared to stage class boycott, boycott of MU examinations and mass resignation till their demands are met.
