Aizawl, September 10, 2014: In a joint operation Mizoram Excise and Narcotics department officials and personnel of the Assam Rifles 39 battalion seized 47 kgs of ganja (cannabis) at Sesawng village, about 50 km north-east of Aizawl.

Excise and Narcotics department officials today said three persons including two women were arrested in this connection yesterday.

The accused - Ramhnemi (38) and Lalmungkim (50) both from New Vervek village and Lalliansanga (40) of Sesawng village were booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.

The contraband, smuggled from neighbouring Manipur, was worth around Rs two lakh in the local market.
