Dimapur, September 14, 2014: A first of its kind, Ilandlo (www.ilandlo.com), is an online shopping website based in Nagaland. It began with an objective to promote and boost Naga indigenous weavers, artisans, craftsmen, local artists, writers, fashion designers, small businesses and entrepreneurs to provide an alternative source of exposure and a sustainable income.
“It is a marketplace where sellers, skilled and talented individuals can sell their work without any prior monetary investments,” says the minds behind the website, Imti Longchar and Lipok Ozukum, both of whom are based in Dimapur. While Imti is a Computer Engineer with 6 years of working experience from Delhi, Lipok holds an MBA degree and is an online tutor and freelances.
Ilandlo intends to market internationally and most importantly focuses on branding the seller and their products. This is especially advantageous for local artists and designers where branding gives them an opportunity to be exposed on a larger scale. Most importantly, it provides a platform where skills are appreciated and inspirations are created for people to keep following their passion. For local weavers, craftsmen and artisans, this site provides an alternate selling platform especially for home-based businesses. While showcasing their unique creations, it gives them a channel to expand their businesses from the comfort of their own homes.
The portal further tries to introduce merchants from outside the state to sell their products on their webpage. This allows a free flow channel for goods from the outside market to reach the state with cost effective delivery systems that are implemented by Ilandlo. The company has a Cash on Delivery (COD) facility available for customers from Dimapur, where a customer can order online to pay cash for the ordered product at their doorstep. This could possibly be the first time in Nagaland that a COD system is being implemented, which Ilandlo believes will help develop proximity with the customers and at the same time build trust with their service.
The site is integrated with a safe and secure payment gateway assuring customers to pay without any doubt and provides international purchase and shipping facilities. There is no listing or seller joining fees unlike other online marketplaces.
According to Imti and Lipok, this concept will allow them to “evolve to new and greater heights, expand horizons, enrich with greater value and empower to explore boundaries;” a vision they hope to achieve.
