Guwahati, September 13, 2014: Obi mobiles in collaboration with Newtech Tele products have launched its variation of smart phones in North east here on Friday.

Talking in the occasion, Ajay Sharma, CEO of Obi mobiles said that northeast has a great prospect for mobile phone companies.

“Almost 12 percent of the total mobile phones purchased in India are from north-east.

However, we think that this region has not been ventured properly by the existing mobile phone companies.

So, we are hoping that we will get great response from people here,” said Sharma addressing media here on Friday.

Talking about the target customers, Sharma said, “Our target customer mainly will be the youths- those who are within the age group of 16-35 years old and our aiom will be to capture 9 percent of the national market by the end of this year. Our price will also be below the average price range of android mobiles which is Rs 12000.”

“We have a whole range of Diwali surprises lined up for our customers. we will be launching one new model every week till the Diwali.”

Obi mobiles have entered the Northeast market with their eight varieties of smartphones and one features phone.

Assamese film actor Rimpi das, who was also present in the launch program said, “These mobile phones are vcery sleek and trendy and I hope the youths will love this new range of smartphones.”
