Senapati, August 31, 2014: Public funeral service for Mayopam Ramror and VS Ramkasing, who allegedly died in police firing in Ukhrul town yesterday, would be performed under the aegis of United Naga Council (UNC) at the public ground of the town at 10 am tomorrow.

According to information received from UNC, all the Naga inhabited areas of the State would observe simultaneous shut down including National Highways from 10 am to 12 noon tomorrow to mark collective mourning.

Sources from UNC have confirmed that the Naga apex body has communicated to all its units and Naga civil bodies to strictly enforce the 'total shut down' for two hours to show solidarity to the deceased persons and those who were injured in the incident.

UNC sources added that it would hold an emergency presidential meeting of all Naga tribe Hohos and frontal bodies in Ukhrul soon after the public funeral and collectively decide the future course of agitation or action.

It has also informed the tribe hohos and civil bodies of the Nagas in Manipur to be present at the funeral service and the crucial meeting.

Meanwhile, Senapati District Student's Association (SDSA) has condemned police action on rallyists in Ukhrul town yesterday.

Such brutal action of the State forces is disturbing and intolerable to all, SDSA said while appealing for mass co-operation in effectively implementing the 'total shut down' from 10 am to 12 noon.

According to SDSA volunteers, the association would strictly implement the bandh for two hours along NH-2.

All business establishments would remain closed during the bandh, they added.
