Dimapur, September 2, 2014: The Assam Rifles has busted an illegal arms manufacturing workshop in Dimapur a few days ago, according to the PRO-IGAR (North) based in Kohima.
Sources in Assam Rifles said today that based on specific information, a search operation was conducted by the troops of 18 Assam Rifles and 29 Assam Rifles under the aegis of headquarters of 6 Sector Assam Rifles and busted an illegal arms manufacturing workshop in Dimapur.
The workshop, engaged in manufacturing and sale of illegal arms – including .22 rifles and .22 pistols – was located in a house near the Naga Cemetery of Dimapur, the PRO-IGAR (North) stated.
During operation, Manen Imsung (41) was apprehended and four .22 rifles, a .22 pistol, ammunition and various parts of weapons were recovered from him, the IGAR (North) claimed. The apprehended individual was handed over to West Police Station, Dimapur.
