The video clips were also embossed with vulgar and offensive words.
The accused in this particular cyber crime is one Irom Binodkumar alias Naocha alias Akash (32) s/o Inaoyai of Patsoi Part II Mayai Leikai. The victim is a 24 year old girl from Bishnupur district.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, the victim said that she and Binodkumar had love affairs since 2008 and their relationship was known to their families.
They eloped on May 22, 2013. But they were separated under an understanding that they would be married after the phiroi (1st death anniversary) of the girl’s father.
In the meantime, Binodkumar insisted the girl to elope for the second time but the proposal was rejected.
Binodkumar’s family members came to the girl’s parents but the two sides could not come to any agreement and the matter was settled with an agreement that the girl and her parents would not raise any objection when Binodkumar married another girl.
Binodkumar eloped another girl on February 6 this year. Then suddenly, Binodkumar started blackmailing and threatening the girl saying that he had video clips of the physical relationship they shared on their elopement night and he would upload them on Facebook.
The girl went to Binodkumar’s home and requested not to upload the video clips. She was given copies of the video clip on March 8.
But not long after, Binodkumar uploaded the video clips on Facebook with vulgar and offensive words using his second name Irom Akash.
The girl then approached a women’s organisation and the organisation Binodkumar’s family and settled the matter with a warning that Binodkumar should not commit such cyber crimes ever again.
However, the same video clips were uploaded in April this year and the girl discovered the video clips in August.
Subsequently, the girl filed a complaint at Patsoi police station. Police pulled up Binodkumar and seized the video clips.
The girl said that Binodkumar betrayed her trust and love and he was trying to assassinate her character. He should be awarded befitting punishment according to law, the girl demanded.
The girl’s mother, enraged by Binodkumar’s arrogant intrusion into her daughter’s privacy, questioned the girl’s fault. “She eloped with Binodkumar in accordance to Meitei customs to enter into wedlock”, the mother asserted.
“The brutal betrayal by Binodkumar has bred a suicidal tendency in the minds of my daughter. For this, Binodkumar should be held responsible”, she said while demanding exemplary punishment for Binodkumar.
