New Delhi, September 19, 2014: In yet another partial relief to the coal mine owners and workers in the State, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Friday gave its nod for transportation of extracted coal from South Garo Hills.
The NGT, while passing its judgement on a petition filed by the State Co-Ordination Committee of Coal Owners’, Miners’ & Dealers’ Forum, stated that transportation of coal would be permitted from only those mines where the Committee has completed its work of identifying and assessing the already extracted coal lying near or around the mines.
The Tribunal, further, directed that where the identification and measurement of the extracted coal has not been completed by the Committee in relation to any area in South Garo Hills, the transportation of coal will not be permitted.
