Haflong, September 6, 2014: To take stock of the progress of the ongoing work for BG conversion at the Lumding-Silchar Hill section of the NF Railway, the Chairman of the Railway Board, along with General Manager (Open Line), General Manager (Construction) and other top officials of the NF Railway visited Haflong on Friday.
They reached here by a special train from Lumding to Lower Haflong and then proceeded to Tunnel No. 10, Portal II, near Jatinga. They inspected the works there.
Talking to media persons, the Chairman of the Railway Board, A Kumar expressed his satisfaction over the ongoing construction works on the tunnel and BG conversion. He further disclosed that the ‘mega block’ to expedite the construction works would come into effect from October 1. Kumar reiterated the Railway’s commitment to complete the work within the stipulated time.
The Chairman of the Railway Board also sought the full support of the people of Dima Hasao for the timely completion of the much awaited project as after the completion of the BG project, the people of the area would be benefited to a great extent.
