Tura, October 15, 2014: The arrested police officer Alarick J Sangma, allegedly involved in the molestation of a minor girl from Tura, has been chargesheeted in the case, according to police. Sangma was arrested two days ago on a complaint filed by a 16-year-old girl and testified by two others.
According to police sources, Sangma had invited the girls, one of whom he knew, to have lunch in Rongram, about 14 kms from Tura, but drove them to Williamnagar instead. He then took them to his room and allegedly molested the youngest girl, who was 16. Two of the girls were minors, while the third was 20.
The three had left his house at about 12.30 am and called two of their friends to drop them at Tura as they did not know anyone in Williamnagar. The boys took the girls to the GHADC guest house where they related the incident.
Meanwhile, Sangma called the police thana and informed that there was some trouble in the GHADC guest house and asked them to check.
Upon reaching the guest house, the police team found the five people together after which the whole episode came to light.
“Only one of the girls was molested and the two corroborated the story of the girl and her being molested by Sangma. He has been arrested and we filed the chargesheet the same day. He is currently in custody and has been suspended from his post”, confirmed the source. Sangma has been sent to 14 day judicial custody.
