Imphal, October 03, 2014 (NNN): Former Chief Minister Rishang Keishing said on Friday introduction of either Inner Line Permit system or a similar law in Manipur can protect the indigenous people.
The All Political Party ILP Committee that has been trying to determine the viability on implementation of Inner Line Permit system in Manipur continued its meeting on Friday.
Rishang Keishing, who is also a seasoned politician of Manipur, whose view and opinions were sought by the Committee on the issue during the meeting stressed on the need for introduction of either ILP system or a similar law in the state, sources said.
At the meeting held at the Committee office in the Assembly Complex, Rishang was optimistic that ILP can protect the indigenous people of Manipur, saying it was imperative to implement the system, they said.
Veteran politicians O Joy and Dr L Chandramani will share their resource-based knowledge and view on the ILP implementation issue in the next meeting of the Committee to be held tomorrow.
