The deceased identified as Angom Birendrajit (35) alias Nanao s/o A Basantajit of Uripok Yambem Leikai was stabbed to death by Tongbram Abothe (20) and his father T Chingsanglakpa (45) of the same locality. Meanwhile, incensed locals ransacked residential house of the duo this morning.
The mob also thrashed the father and son leaving them badly injured.
Both of them are undergoing treatment at RIMS Hospital.
In the mob attack, Chingsanglakpa received injuries on his head, chest, shoulder and left leg while his son Abothe received injuries on his face.
Following the incident, a public meeting of four localities namely Uripok Yambem Leikai, Uripok Khumanthem Leikai, Uripok Bachaspati Leikai and Uripok Achom Leikai was convened at Uripok Yambem Leikai and formed a joint action committee in connection with the incident.
The meeting also unanimously resolved to ostracize the father and son including their family members from the locality for their heinous act and award the same punishment to those families who gave shelter to the family members.
While demanding befitting punishment to the culprits at the earliest, the meeting also decided to form a youth force to stop abusing of drugs in the locality.
Police have recovered the knife used by the father and son in killing the man.
