Imphal, September 30, 2014: A Kuki Independence War Memorial Community Hall cum Museum & Library has been inaugurated at Kuki Inn today.
While giving the keynote address at the inaugural function, secretary Kuki Independence War Memorial Community, Poosie Haokip said that the community hall cum museum and library has been established in commemoration of the forefathers and martyrs who gave up their lives for freedom and dignity of Kuki people.
Speaking as the chief guest, Ex-MP Rajya Sabha Rishang Keishing said that there are 30 communities in hill areas of Manipur. Its the God’s grace that all these communities are living together in peace and harmony.
“Today is a very important day as we are remembering our forefathers and the martyrs whose sacrifices enable us stand with dignity till today. The community hall cum museum and library which has been established in commemoration of the departed souls would continue to remind us about their contribution during the fight for independence”, he asserted.
The dignitaries who attended the function as the guest of honour and president were Ex-Minister C Doungel and Kuki Inpi Manipur president Thangkhosei Haokip respectively.
As part of the inaugural programme, a souvenir was also released followed by a cultural dance programme.
