CCPur, October 16, 2014: The frantic search for a mentally unstable aged woman who had gone missing since twelve days back ended today with the recovery of the corpse, in a semi-naked state, on a hill near Saidan village.

The body of Vungching (68) was first found by a man, said Zalian a relative of the victim, while looking for his herd of cattle today. As Saidan villagers confirmed about the corpse they in turn informed the victim’s family who identified the body and immediately claimed it.

According to Zalian, the body was in a semi-naked state with only her inner skirt intact when she was found. There were no traces of her other garments, he said adding, her face was still recognizable and was not badly decomposed.

The victim’s family took the body without informing the police despite having filed an FIR.

When asked about their action, the family members said they were not mindful about it as of now as they are overwhelmed on their loss as well as on locating their missing mother. The victim’s eldest son Khamsonthang nevertheless said they would give a thought about it.

As the police had not been formally informed about it at the time of filing this report and with the body already in the custody of the family there are tall chances that it will be buried tomorrow without conducting any autopsy.
