Aizawl, October 7, 2014: Mizoram’s Food and Civil Supplies Minister John Rotluangliana on Tuesday visited Tiddim in Myanmar from Zokhawthar border trade centre by road to inspect the route for import of rice from the neighbouring country.
Rotluangliana was accompanied by Parliamentary Secretary T T Zothansanga and senior officials, an official statement said.
Mizoram has decided to import rice from Myanmar in view of shortage of foodstuff supply due to construction work for gauge conversion of the Lumding-Badarpur sector railway from October 1, an official said. The rice would be imported via Zokhawthar village from where it would be distributed to different districts, he added.
