Imphal, August 29, 2014: As demoted RIMS Director Dr S Sekharjit failed to turn up to open the locked office chamber of RIMS Director even after the lapse of 24 hours given to him, RIMS authority today broke the locks in the presence of a Duty Magistrate and OC of Lamphel Police Station.

Newly appointed RIMS Director Dr Ch Arun Kumar, Medical Superintendent Prof M Amuba, Dean (Academics) Prof Kaushik Debnath, Deputy Director (Administration) Y Rajendro, CAO/FA E Debendro, SDC Imphal L Geetchandra, Advocate A Bimol of Manipur High Court, 2nd OC of Lamphel Police Station Holkhomang Haokip were also present while breaking the lock.

After opening the office chamber, the team sealed four almirahs containing office files and documents, two book shelves and two computer sets used by the former Director Dr Sekharjit and later kept inside a store room before it was sealed.

Speaking to reporters, Dr Ch Arun Kumar said that he has officially taken over the charge of RIMS Director and he would look into the needs of the premier medical institute of the State. Responding to a query regarding the allegations levelled against Dr S Sekharjit, he said that he has nothing to comment on the matter as he does not have any knowledge about it. If the allegations are proved right, necessary action would be initiated to bring the things to order, he added.

It may be mentioned that the door of Director’s chamber was locked by former Director Dr S Sekharjit on August 26 as RIMS administration received a fax letter from the Deputy Secretary of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (North East Section) relieving Dr Sekharjit from the official duties of RIMS Director and appointing Dr Ch Arun Kumar in his place.
