CCPur, August 30, 2014 : Alleging disappearance of huge quantity of liquor seized and sealed off for disposal by Churachandpur Police, Churachandpur District Students' Union (CDSU) has demanded Superintendent of Police, Churachandpur K.Kabid, IPS to clarify the matter in the interest of the general public.

In a press release issued today, CDSU said that Churachandpur police personnel raided a particular building at Khumujamba Meitei Leikai in the evening of the August 12 last and seized huge quantities of different brands of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) .

But the liquor consignment which was sealed off by the police disappeared, it alleged. CDSU further demanded to know the identity of the culprits involved in carrying away such huge quantity of liquor and what is the progress of the investigation into the case.

Further, the student union asked what was the the gross quantity of all the seized liquor, its estimated market value and the total quantity disposed off by the department.

The union further questioned, 'What is the total quantity of liquor lying for disposal in the department?' .

Is the police department a competent legal authority to dispose off such seized items or is there any specific department more appropriate to carry out the same?, the CDSU further queried.

Is disposal of seized alcohols in public place such as New Bazaar bus parking or commercial hubs a justified act?, the release further demanded to know.
