Guwahati, October 4, 2014: Police resorted to firing on a suspected arms dealer this evening around 4.30 pm near Bamunimaidam area. The incident took place when, based on an input, police rushed to the spot and tried to frisk some suspected elements standing in the locality.

At this, one of the suspected elements tried to snatch the weapon of the on-duty police personnel and escape. Subsequently, the PSO fired on his leg. The injured, identified as Samuel Bora of Tinsukia, was subsequently shifted to hospital.

During the search operation, a revolver was seized. The suspected arms dealer is believed to have some links with the NSCN, police said.
