Kohima, August 28, 2014: A case of impersonation, whereby a candidate from Manipur got himself recruited using the identity of his friend, was detected in an Army recruitment held at Kohima last year.

According PIB (Defence Wing) Kohima press note, Ram Tewari had obtained education, permanent residential, domicile and Gorkha certificate from Prakash Chamlagai, a resident of Kangpokpi, Senapati, Manipur and passed all the tests and was recruited on June this year.

As per the release, he was detected only when he reported for training to the 58 Gorkha Training Centre at Shillong, where he confessed that he had paid Rs 2 lakh to Prakash Chamlagai to assume his identity. Consequently, he has been dismissed and arrested after an FIR of “impersonation and fraud” was filed with the Sub-Urban P.S Dimapur, it added.
