The women wing of the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) which has been spearheading the mass movement for the implementation of the Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) in the State, launched the drive in and around Paona Bazar in the heart of the State capital today.
According to reports, the women wing of JCILPS numbering around 20 women detected many outsiders staying in rented houses at Paona Bazar but were having identification documents such as election voter identity card, etc., during the verification drive today.
The women wing took up the initiative to study and examine the actual number of outsiders not having proper identification documents, in protest against the Manipur Government’s alleged failure to check and monitor the ‘illegal’ inflow of outsiders into the State. On Sunday, JCIPLS had formally made an announcement to conduct the verification process in Imphal.
JCILPS Convenor Ibotombi Khuman asserted that the body will not encourage outsiders without proper documents. He warned that the committee will start looking for those persons who encourages the inflow of outsiders to the State by supplying fake documents. He also appealed for a halt to this kind of business immediately or face the consequences.
Meanwhile, truck driver Gopal Gautham and handyman Nawaj who were reportedly kidnapped by some unknown persons from Zubza near Kohima on August 13 were released today near the Nagaland State capital, sources said.
Sources said family members, truck union members and others have rushed to Nagaland to receive them. The JAC against the kidnapping of truck driver and handyman had issued an ultimatum to release them without any condition by August 24.
