Jorhat, August 25, 2014: After interacting with several inmates at the relief camps set up at Uriamghat, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that the chief ministers of Assam and Nagaland should work jointly to resolve the border problems of the two States and take prompt measures to provide security to the people in the affected areas.

Expressing concern over the absence of police personnel along the disturbed areas at Uriamghat, Union Minister Sonowal said that the Government should deploy the required number of security personnel of the State police to provide adequate protection to the villagers concerned.

During his visit to the affected areas in Dhansiri sub-division of Golaghat district, Sonowal said that Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi should visit the places to know about the ground reality, or else he will never be able to get the actual picture about the sufferings of the villagers, who became homeless after the firing, arson and stabbing by the Naga miscreants in the surrounding hamlets a few days ago.

After a discussion with some officers of the CRPF and Golaghat district administration, Sonowal asked the officials concerned to take all necessary steps to provide security to the people in the violence-affected areas.
