Dimapur, September 15, 2014: With the sole objective to unite all the people to seek peace in the region and to put an end to the increasing crimes and violence prevailing in the Northeast, a candlelight peace rally under the banner “All we need is peace” was organised by the youth and citizens of Guwahati and other parts of Northeast on September 14. The rally was preceded by a signature campaign.

Eminent personalities who joined the rally with full zeal and presenting a strong message to spread peace and humanity included Bijoya Chakraborty, Chairperson of National Commission for Women; Anand Prakash Tiwari, Senior Superintendent of Police, Guwahati; Nani Gopal Mahanta, Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science, Gauhati University; D’com Bhuyan, theatre personality; Elvis Ali Hazarika, eminent sportsperson; Archie Borthakur, journalist and social activist; and Yana Ngoba, fashion designer and social activist. The rally saw the participation of more than 150 people.

The rally also saw delegates from different communities of the Northeast like Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya and Karbi Anglong , who actively took part with renewed call for unity.

The event was sponsored by Royal Global School and Yana Ngoba and supported by several Guwahati based NGOs and socio-cultural groups like Justice for the Society (JFS), Youth Collective (FST), Budget Zero, Discovery Bikers, The Chromosome Group, Cotton College Photography Club (CCPC) , AVAS Foundation and the children from Royal Global School; apart from citizens from all walks of life, profession, religion and age -group.

“All we need is peace” rally was conceptualized by Abhishek-Boney Singha (Golaghat) and coordinated by Parul Deka, Debangini Ray, Mrinmoy Buragohain and Nayanika Gogoi.
