On September 17, former former president of the Tangkhul Shanao Long AS Dinah was killed in a bomb blast at a hardware store at Viewland in Ukhrul district headquarters.

He bore multiple cut injuries on his head, suspected to be made by a hard and sharp weapon.

Ngamraishang was abducted by unknown persons suspected to be underground cadres from Ukhrul bus parking near ISBT, Chingmeirong on September 17.

According to the Ngamraishang’s family members, who were present at JNIMS morgue, the deceased came to Imphal with his cousin brother NH Chunei to visit his ailing younger sister.

During their stay in Imphal, the duo stayed at the residence of Ngamraishang’s father-in-law at Langol near Shija Hospitals, they said.

On September 17 morning, they reached Ukhrul bus parking to board a bus to return to Ukhrul.

Even as Ngamraishang stood near the bus, NH Chunei went out alone to buy some articles from a nearby shop.

However, when Chunei returned to the place where Ngamraishang was standing, Chunei did not find his cousin brother there.

Chunei instantly made a phone call to Ngamraishang, however he told Chunei that he was meeting a friend and he would be returning within 30 minutes.

As Ngamraishang never returned to the bus stop and put his phone in switched off mode, NH Chunei boarded the bus and returned to Ukhrul alone.

After two days of wait for Ngamraishang’s return, Alang Village Development Committee chairman received a text message from an unknown number yesterday evening informing that Ngamraishang had been left at Thayong hill range under Lamlai Police Station in Senapati district.

When family members went there at around 7 am today, they found Ngamraishang’s lifeless body inside a thick bush on the top of the hill range, one km to the east of Don Bosco School.

Family members said that Ngamraishang’s body was found lying with his face turning to the ground. He was blindfolded and his hands were found tied.

He bore multiple injury marks on his head suspected to be made by a hard and sharp weapon, they added.

Police said that they rushed to the site after getting information of the incident at around 8 am.

After conducting an inquest of the body, they brought the body to Imphal and deposited it at JNIMS morgue.

Later, Ngamraishang’s body was handed over to his family after conducting post mortem examination in the evening.

One of the family members said that they don’t have any idea about the murderers of Ngamraishang as they don’t have any enmity with anybody.

He also said that a few months back, some underground cadres were apprehended by the Assam Rifles from their village and the concerned group had threatened the villagers with strong words that their cadres were arrested after Village Authority had given information of their presence in the village to the Assam Rifles.

Ngamraishang is survived by his wife and two little daughters.
