Shillong, September 28, 2014: The Meghalaya Eco-Friendly Students Union (MEFSU) has decided to resort to legal course of action following the Government’s alleged indifferent attitude in penalizing the nine erring cement plants in Jaintia Hills.

The MEFSU had set a 30-day deadline for the government to act against the cement plants which allegedly violated provisions of the Forest Conservation Act, 1980.

“The cement plants have violated Section 2 of the Act which states that ‘no forest land shall be used for non forestry purposes,” the MEFSU said.
