Itanagar, October 11, 2014: Traffic on the Nirjuli-Banderdewa stretch of National Highway-52A has resumed on Wednesday with the Arunachal PWD Minister Gojen Gadi along with Parliamentary Secretary for PWD Alo Libang formally declaring the Karsingsa block point open, much ahead of the October 31 deadline.

Vehicular movement along the stretch had remained suspended for nearly two months after a major portion of the road at Karsingsa sinking zone was washed away by the Dikrong river on August 16 last, forcing the district authorities to divert the traffic through the Bage Tinali (Nirjuli)-Doimukh-Gumto-Harmutti road. The Hollongi-Itanagar portion of the national highway being developed as four-lane highway would be completed by October-end while tenders for the Itanagar-Banderdewa stretch would be floated by November, the Minister said.

Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari has assured to speed up the project and release the fund timely, Gadi disclosed, adding that Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rjiju has also assured all possible help to expedite the ambitious road project, sanctioned under PM’s package way back in 2008.
