Guwahati, September 26, 2014: The Gauhati High Court today issued notices to the Union Government, State Government, District Magistrate, Kokrajhar, and Superintendent of Police, Kokrajhar after counsels for arrested television journalist J Brahma questioned the legality and validity of the order to book the accused under the National Security Act (NSA).
They have been asked to reply within October 15. Advocates Bijon Mahajan and Arshad Choudhury appeared for the Kokrajhar-based journalist of News Live television channel who was arrested on September 3 for allegedly hobnobbing with NDFB(S) and feeding the outfit with information.
Brahma is also charged with taking money from the outfit.
Earlier, global human rights body the Amnesty International on September 23 had called for a fair trial for detained TV journalist Jaikhlong Brahma.
