New Delhi, September 26, 2014: Under pressure, The Ministry of Water Resources (MoWR) is going to take a call on the future of the Brahmaputra Board in consultation with the North Eastern States.
Even as the flood water in Assam is yet to fully recede, Union Minister for Water Resources (MoWR) Uma Bharti today claimed that the Assam government was warned about heavy rains three days in advance. “Unfortunately, the State government failed to take any precautionary measure,” lamented Bharti
Heavy rains last week wreaked havoc in Assam and Meghalaya leading to heavy flooding.
Officials of the MoWR told newsmen that flood forecasting in the country would be revamped and in certain cases the Ministry would give advance warnings to disaster management bodies.
