Rijiju has also been closely monitoring the problems and other issues confronting the north east community in Delhi and is being kept in the loop of all incidents.
The young union Minister of State for home has also taken up various issues of the hill states of the north east region for the government’s attention. Rijiju speaks fluent hindi and is considered as among those who wield considerable influence in the Modi government.
The sources said that the economic blockade imposed by several organizations in Assam against Nagaland, was broken after union minister of state for home, Kiren Rijiju had taken the initiative to rescue nine Nagaland Armed personnel who had been illegally detained by a mob of thousands.
The mob had waylaid the security personnel of Nagaland parliamentary secretary Paiwang Konyak when on their way to pick up the latter from Jorhat airport.
Taking a serious view against blockading of national highways by organizations especially in the north east, the ministry of home affairs is mulling a set of measures to effectively tackle the problem.
Official sources pointed to the August 20 incident, when central and state police forces broke up the economic blockade on Nagaland by several organizations in protest against violence and arson in the border between Golaghat and Wokha districts.
It was learnt that the ministry of home affairs (MHA) had sent an official to Manipur on the eve of the ongoing blockade under Naga hill districts by the UNC against Manipur government as a protest against the killing of two persons by police forces in Ukhrul town on August 31.
