Dimapur, October 27, 2014: In a horrifying incident, an 80-year-old woman was allegedly raped in her home at Jotsoma village in Kohima district by two youths. According to sources, the heinous act happened on October 25.
After the offence came to light, the two accused were reportedly caught and beaten up by an angry mob on Sunday before they were handed over to the police. Shockingly, the daughter-in-law of the victim is said to be under suspicion of conspiring in the crime.
Police sources said that the daughter-in-law is also under their remand along with the two accused youth. However, they remained tight-lipped on the details of the incident as well as the identity of the accused on the grounds that investigation into the case is still on.
Sources in the village disclosed that the victim’s daughter-in-law has questionable moral character and she is believed to be the one who invited the accused, in the absence of her husband, to her home which she shared with the victim.
The victim is said to be admitted in a government-run hospital and undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, Phezhu Colony Jotsoma chairman Kezhangulie Nakhro, when contacted, denounced the act committed by the two youth. He said such act does not have any place in the society and should be totally condemned by all.
