Pangolin scales seized

Imphal, October 27, 2014: Assam Rifles troops, based on specific intelligence regarding smuggling of banned wildlife products, apprehended a woman along with banned wildlife products at Khudengthabi check post on Friday, according to a press statement issued by PRO Assam Rifles (South) here.

Around 1.7 kg of Pangolin scales estimated to be worth Rs 1.20 lakh was recovered from her possession. The woman along with the recovered items have been handed over to the Forest department, the statement added.

In another incident, Assam Rifles troops apprehended one person along with 120 beer cans worth Rs 7,800 from a vehicle at a check post at Bongyang on Friday.

Ultra held: Assam Rifles troops in an operation in Tellou under Lampai police station arrested a cadre of proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (MC) on October 24, a press release said.
