Imphal, August 26, 2014: The All Tribal Students' Union, Manipur (ATSUM-Tombing) has appealed to a particular underground group to withdraw its demand of Rs 50 lakh served to the SK oil dealers in Manipur in the larger interest of the people.

Considering the development deficit that is likely to take place as a result of the monetary demands by a particular underground group to the SK oil dealers, retail outlets and officials of IOC's Imphal Divisional office, ATSUM appeals to the particular underground group to withdraw the demand in the larger interest of the public.

It then said the shutting down of all oil pumps and planning to shift divisional office elsewhere outside Manipur will have a serious repercussion entailing extra expenditure and woes to one and all.

"In case the office is shifted away from Imphal, dealers and ROS would face enormous hardships and the people of Manipur in general will certainly face shortage of fuel.

Under such a precarious situation, ATSUM is constrained to make an earnest appeal to the underground outfit to withdraw or relax the demand as a step toward peaceful co-existence of all communities living in Manipur.

While at the same time, the government of Manipur is fervently requested to look into the matter so as to resolve the issue amicably without further complication," ATSUM stated.
