MoU signed to ferry patients in NE
Kohima, August 21, 2014: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Guwahati Neurological Research Centre Limited (GNRC) and Pawan Hans Ltd for facilitating medi-chopper service to remote areas of North East India.
The MoU was signed on Monday by Dr. Nomal Chandra Borah, Chairman & Managing Director of GNRC Hospitals Ltd, in the presence of Anil Srivastava, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Pawan Hans Ltd, and Joint Secretary Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India.
The service, which builds on the concept of Medireach buses – Hospitals on wheels – will regularly ferry doctors from GNRC to difficult-to-access location across the region and provide doorstep medical support to the population across the North-eastern states of Nagaland, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Tripura and Sikkim. It will also bring critical patients from remote locations to centre of excellence for health care.
The medi-chopper will have ventilator and other necessary medical equipments to support patient on its way and will be taken care by doctors, trained physician and para medical personnel and emergency medical technicians.
To commemorate completion of 67 years of Independence of the nation, GNRC (formerly known as Guwahati Neurological Research Centre), in association with several mass organizations Monday launched “Swasthya Yatra (Health March).
The Yatra seeks to encourage individuals to achieve freedom from ill-health through preventive, promotive and curative healthcare and subsequently march ahead to other parts of North East, East and the rest of India.
