Chandel, August 29, 2014: The United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) contradicted the claims of Kuki National Liberation Front (KNLF), published in local dailies, that UKLF dictated and instigated Kuki Civil Society Organisations, Chandel District to work against KNLF.

In a press statement issued by MP Haokip, Joint Secretary of UKLF, the organisation clarified that they never undertook to instigate CDL based CSOs like KPF, KCA, KSO, TSA, KWHR etc. They are a people based orgnisation working independently for the welfare of their district it stated.

Chandel based CSOs, right from the beginning, had raised their voice against the proposed KNLF Camp at Simol village in their aspiration for maintaining peace and harmony in their district. These objections, UKLF added, is not a new thing. Mention may be made that, these CSOs submitted several memorandums to concerned authorities demanding the annulment of KNLF Simol camp.

UKLF, it further stated, believe in the “right to freedom of association/expression” enshrined in the constitution of India and hence finds KNLF's imposing broad ban on these CSOs most unfortunate.

UKLF further added that they will not remain a silent spectator in case anything happen to any of the leaders/workers of these CSOs. Appropriate action would be taken against KNLF and its tentacles without any hesitation, the Joint Secretary concluded.
