Imphal, September 29 2014: The two laborers engaged in construction of Andro Mamang Sanapat Market under Yairipok Police Station, Thoubal district who were abducted by suspected armed cadres of Kuki National Front (KNF) from the worksite on September 21 for a monetary demand of Rs 50 lakhs have been set free by the abductors and they have reached their home places on September 28.

The laborers who have been released after eight days in captivity have been identified as Chingakham Dhanabandhu (60) s/o (L) Ch Mandhu of Andro Mamang Sanapat and Sansam Hemanta (30) s/o S Iboton of Lamsang Haorang Makha Leikai.

Dhanabandhu works as a cook in the worksite while Hemanta is a driver.

On the other hand, the driver and the handyman of a Tata DI truck kidnapped by cadres of ZUF along with the truck from near Barak Bridge along Imphal-Jiribam road under Nungba Police Station in Tamenglong district have been released somewhere in a place near Nungba today.

The driver has been identified as Heikrujam Ibomcha (35) s/o (L) H Irabot of Yumnam Khunou, Sagolmang and the handyman as Thangjam Romen (26) alias Naocha s/o Th Tomba of the same locality.

However, both have not reached their home places till the time of filing this report.

The truck bearing registration no MN01X-0809 loaded with betel leafs was coming from Jiribam and heading towards Imphal when some armed cadres of ZUF kidnapped the driver and the handyman along with the truck at gun point.
