Dimapur, September 8, 2014: With a begging bowl directed towards Delhi, the Government of Nagaland continues to show the people of Nagaland the stick. In a trend of sorts, employees of the State Government have remained unpaid for as many as 10 months.
The All Nagaland School Teachers Association (ANSTA) has made a “fervent appeal” to the department authority for early release of pending salaries for those teachers who had been appointed through SSA programme “as they have not paid for last 4 months” and Special Education Teachers (SET) “who have not been paid for the past 10 months.”
The Association reiterated that “salary is the only sustaining source of the teachers for which if it is not paid on time, then the very survival of teacher is threatened and jeopardized... when one’s own survival is put at stake, the question of sincerity and dedication toward assigned duty does not arise. However, inspite of adverse condition they have, many of aforesaid teachers are performing regular duty till date against all odds.”
Keeping in tune with the Parliamentary Secretary’s message to “release pending salaries of SSA teachers within a month,” the Association has appealed to the same to “kindly take-up the issue with personal interest so as to release the pending salaries of the concerned teachers at the earliest possible time.”
