Jiribam, September 07, 2014: Amid tight security escorts, numbers of trucks which left Imphal yesterday to ship the essential commodities have reached Jiribam today.

However the journey has outworn the truck drivers.

According to them, "indescribable" is the only word that can be termed for the deploring road condition.

Trucks escorted by the 2nd IRB under the leadership of K Jayenta Singh, IPS, started arriving in Jiribam through NH-37 at around 8 pm yesterday and the remaining trucks arrived this morning.

One of the drivers recounted, "When we reached near Makru, the road was badly affected and impossible to drive through.

However, since the journey could not be abandoned midway, we forcefully made it through after seevral attempts".

At present, around 80 loaded trucks are stationed in Leingangpokpi in Jiribam and is expected to arrive in Imphal either on September 9 or September 10.
