Chandel, September 18, 2014: The Tribal Cultural and Film Development Manipur (TCAFDM), organized a two day workshop on development of Tribal films under the theme social changes through music and film.

The workshop which was held under the sponsorship of the Tribal Research Institute, Imphal from September 15 at MACA hall, Chandel, not only discussed social reformation through film and music, importance of film and marketing policy, but also discussed issues confronting the artistes, film makers and the audience.

Founder and director of Kuknalim Music Ministry, AC Raising and director of Chandel based Kholmi Film Production director S Pearson attended as resource persons during the workshop.

Giving the keynote address, president of TCAFDM L, Decemhring Anal informed that TCAFDM was formed to create a common platform for promotion of Tribal films considering the influence of media in promoting one’s culture and traditions.

Speaking as a resource person on social reformation through film and music, AC Raising stressed on the need of producing influential, quality and indigenous based films. The emergence, he said, of quality and talented artistes with dedication, commitment, confidence and specialization are the needs of the hour.

S Pearson while speaking on the importance of film and marketing policy, pointed out the lack of exposure as the main issue confronting Tribal films rather than the talents of the tribal artistes. If given the importance and what is required, Pearson said films can become additional sources of income and a means to earn livelihood.

Marinda, a participant of the workshop, while expressing her views said the artistes ought to be respected and honoured for their contribution to the society. Rather than looking down on them, she said they should be supported.

President of Anal Lenruwl Tangpi (Anal Students’ Union), L Manahring and President of NSUC Sr Jonigam were among other important persons present at the workshop.
