Tura, September 15, 2014: A day after Meghalaya police accused GNLA chief Sohan D Shira of abandoning his group to seek shelter in neighbouring Bangladesh to escape the ongoing ‘Hill Storm’ operations by security forces against the banned outfit, the elusive militant leader has vowed to return to give a ‘befitting’ reply.

“It is naive of Meghalaya police and its intelligence to think that I run away to Bangladesh. To clarify their doubts, I never leave my ground from a fight and my return will surely give a big blow to the MLP,” warned Sohan Shira in a communique.

His statement appears to corroborate police claims that one of the most wanted militant leaders is currently not present in Garo Hills though the reasons for his disappearance are many. While police claimed that Sohan had developed cold feet in his fight against the state machinery, the militant leader, on the other hand, has cautioned the security forces to be wary of the ‘lull before the storm’.

“Bangladesh is merely a route to various other countries that we use frequently for our business. Our business is our fight for Garoland and the fight requires better arms and technologies for the future which those countries provide,” said the commander-in-chief of GNLA indicating that the organization is on a buying spree for more weapons to add to its already overflowing arsenal.

Taunting the state police force and its intelligence network, the GNLA leader questioned the availability of inputs about his movement.

“It seems Meghalaya police and its intelligence is so great to know Sohan’s whereabouts, but fail to locate its own crook, Nurul Islam till today,” stated the outfit while taunting the police on the disappearance of police official Islam who is wanted for the alleged rape and molestation of two girls in Ampati.

Reiterating the outfit’s ‘commitment’ for Garoland state, Sohan said, “It remains the biggest and only driving force for the GNLA.”

“Garoland may have become just a dream and a laughing story to many, but it is still the only driving force that dampens our fear to stand and fight against the mighty forces of the government,” claimed Sohan.
