Imphal, October 6, 2014: Asiad Medalists from the State should be treated honourably and accordingly, said tribal student bodies who enthusiastically received “Magnificent Mary”, the Asiad Gold medalist on Sunday at Tulihal Airport.

Tribal Student bodies including All Tribal Students’ Union Manipur (ATSUM), Kuki Students’ Organization-General Headquarters (KSO-GHQ), Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) and Hmar Students’ Association (HSA) presented a tribal traditional shawl each to Asiad Gold Medalist Mary Kom at her residence.

Meanwhile, the Hmar Youth Association (HSA) Jt Hqtrs Imphal has congratulated all the Manipuri sportspersons who brought laurels to the country as well as the State in the recently concluded Incheon Asian Games and in particular ace boxer Mary Kom for winning Gold. The HYA today held a felicitation programme at Mary's residence and presented Hmar Thangsuopuon (traditional shawl) to her.

Presenting the shawl, HYA president Laldawnlien Varte urged all responsible citizens to honour the dignity of various tribes and uphold the philanthropic zeal of the forefathers. He also highlighted that rampant violence and social evils have dented the society and this needs to be eradicated so that the value of hard work is realised.
