Imphal, August 30, 2014: Chief Minister Okram Ibobi inaugurated the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) Go-live Pilot Phase, Manipur today at Imphal Police Station.

CCTNS is an e-Governance mission mode project, funded by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India.

The objective of introducing CCTNS was to create an IT enabled system which will enable one Police station to communicate with any other police station directly.

The system will facilitate collection, storage, retrieval, analysis, transfer and sharing of data and information between police stations, State Headquarters and National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) .

The CCTNS' Go-live phase was intoduced today in 7 police stations of Imphal West District, 3 in Imphal East and 13 Police higher Offices.

Home and Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, Chief Secretary PC Lawmkunga, the DGP and other Police Officers attended the inaugural event.

Chief Minister O Ibobi in his speech, said that CCTNS pilot phase would hugely benefit the State Police.

Soon, with the help of the project, the law enforcers would be able to work more efficiently and with more transparency.

This will, the CM added, ultimately add to the efficient handling of law and order in the State.

The CCTNS project is planned to be intoduced to a total of 101 police stations and 115 higher offices throughout the State.

To enable effective functioning of CCTNS, uninterrupted power supply would be needed.

The CM assured that the State would come up with a solution to the current power shortage problems shortly.

He further assured that the CCTNS project would be introduced in all the districts of the State.
