Dimapur, August 30, 2014: The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation has once again appealled to Nagaland Chief Secretary to seriously look into the matter of review of Job Reservation Policy for a separate roster system exclusively for the six backward tribes of Eastern Nagaland and issue necessary directives to all departments to implement the 25 per cent job reservation policy in toto.
Considering the negative impact of the Job Reservation Policy in the State, particularly the present 200 Point Roster System, on the six backward tribes, the ENSF reminded the Chief Secretary that in its representation to her on April 18, 2013, it had sought review of the Job Reservation Policy for a Separate Roster System to be maintained exclusively for the six backward tribes of Eastern Nagaland. However, the Federation lamented that it is yet to receive any response from the State Government on any measures taken so far on the matter.
Further, the Federation said it also appealed for maintaining 25 per cent job reservation in all the departments as approved by the State Government but this was never addressed nor implemented by the departments in letter and in spirit. “Many departments are going for ad-hoc and backdoor appointments resulting in loss of opportunity for the weaker section,” ENSF president Shahsha L Menhahu and speaker Mongko NC Chang said in the reminder to the Chief Secretary.
The ENSF also pointed out that it has been brought to its knowledge that most of the departments advertised only limited vacant posts whereby the reservation policy for the backward tribes could not be maintained.
